Potts Point

With its largest section measuring only 1 km long by 200 metres wide, Potts Point is one of the smallest suburbs of Sydney, NSW - but at the same time, one of Sydney’s prime entertainment precincts.

Located just 3 km east of Sydney’s central business district, Potts Point was the site of some of Australia’s first apartment buildings. Because of the limited space in the suburb, most residents live in high rise apartments – many of these apartments offer million dollar views, looking directly over at the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.  

Transport Links

Many transport options are available to residents and visitors of Potts Point. The Sydney bus routes 311, 325, 326 and 327 run regularly through the suburb.

Kings Cross underground railway station is a primary stop on the Eastern Suburbs railway line, making the commute into the city and surrounding areas easy and hassle-free.

Local Culture

From the 1920s and through world-war two, Potts Point was extensively developed into apartment buildings and hotels, in an Art Deco style that truly represents that era. As a result, Potts Point boasts the most coveted examples of Art Deco architecture in Australia. Most hotels have been transformed into apartment buildings or backpacking hostels and the unique culture of the area has drawn an increasingly large gay population.

Community and Recreation

Whilst Potts Point is small in size, it boasts one of the largest destinations for entertainment across Sydney. Residents and visitors have an enormous selection of pubs and trendy bars to choose from – drawing in Sydneysiders who seek a diverse range of cultural cuisines and hot spots that stay open until late.
